March 31st, 2009 by adminPaisleys are a design element that traditionally features on silk ties all over the world. The paisley is a tear drop shaped motif that originated in Persia and India. They are often referred to as ‘Persian Pickles’ or ‘Welsh Tears’, and it’s not hard to see why when you look at the pattern long enough! This design is incredibly popular amongst quilt makers, designers and artists who often incorporate it into their work. The name Paisley is said to come from the small town in central Scotland, originally know as Paislay. The Paisley pattern made this Scottish weaving town famous in the 19th century!
