Online Banks

May 31st, 2008 by admin

Bank of America stinks, just so you know. I’ve been using them for years just because they have ATMs all over town, but now I’m checking out High Yield Online Savings. There are much better deals to be had there. It’s your money, after all, and the banks make money off it just by virtue of having it. It hardly seems right that they would nickel and dime you to death with fees on top of it. I poked around the net, and settled on ING Electric Orange Checking Accounts as the best option out there. They pay great rates, and don’t charge those ridiculous fees. I know some people have issues with not being able to meet their bankers in person, but honestly I don’t really care about that. More people should check out internet banks instead of big banks.

Thinking About SEP IRA Plans

May 26th, 2008 by admin

Just started a new job that uses
SEP IRA Plans instead of a 401k plan. Looks like I have some research to do, now, as I haven’t the slightest idea how SEP IRAs work.
In particular, I need to know more about 5305 Sep Forms. There’s some decent stuff on the net about it, but it’s hard to stay focused on it. This stuff is just so dry and dull.
It will be good to get some tax savings out of the deal at least. There are few enough ways to get ahead of the ever-growing tax monster these days.

Online Savings Accounts

Bank of America stinks, just so you know. I’ve been using them for years just because they have ATMs all over town, but now I’m checking out internet banks. There are much better deals to be had there. I mean after all, it’s my money, and I’m lending it to them. They should pay for the privilege. And why should I have to pay fees to them? It’s not like I get to charge them fees when I borrow money from them. Specifically, Bank of the Internet is a great deal. They pay good rates, and don’t charge all of those hidden fees that the big boys are always hitting you with. Who cares if the big banks have more ATMs when they will refund your ATM fees from any other Bank? Now I can use any ATM in town. You might want to look into the benefits of online banking yourself.

Online Bank Accounts

I’ve been banking at Wells Fargo for years, but I’m fed up with the lousy rates they pay for their deposit accounts. I’ve decided to look into online banks instead. There are much better deals to be had there, Sometimes you have to remind yourself that you are lending your money to the bank with these accounts, and they ought to be paying you. It’s not like you get to charge the bank fees when they loan you money, after all. Specifically, Wilmington Trust Direct is a great deal. They pay good rates, and don’t charge all of those hidden fees that the big boys are always hitting you with. I mean, who wants to wait in line at a bank branch when you can get your business done in a few seconds online? You might want to look into the benefits of online banking yourself.
