Affordable Health care plans for people in need

May 28th, 2008 by admin

Increasing numbers of Americans need some sort of affordable health care. Workers are being hit hard by employers anxious to save money on their premiums by reducing cover or passing on the rises in cost. I know this because I am one of those workers; I have a great job and prior to 2006, I also had an amazingly wonderful health care plan. Last fall, out of the blue, we were informed that our health care provider was going to be switched to a cheaper alternative. To make the system fair to everyone, the health care provider would need to change. Although I am just as well looked after with this new policy, I'm not entirely convinced. The new insurance company may be cheaper for the company but it isn't for me because to have my husband and daughter in the plan costs double what it did with the previous provider. Taking a good deal less home in my paycheck to have my family remain on the healthcare policy seems to be the only option I have because almost everyone else is happy with the new arrangement. My health care may still be very good despite the fact that the old company was much better than this new one. Many workers saw their paychecks reduce when this new affordable health care scheme come into force. You see, my previous plan paid my entire hospital bill just over 3 years ago when I had my little boy. Whereas if I were to have that same stay in hospital today it would cost over 4,000 dollars. There are also the co-pays to consider, another cost in addition to the hospital fees I would have to pay. There is obviously a market for these schemes because more and more affordable health care options are becoming available. Options now exist for people that are not supplied with a health provision where they work, and now single mothers have access to plans which they can join; some people can even have free health care. Although these programs are a good idea for those less fortunate there are always people who want to abuse the system. It pays off to have  house water filter system especially when you want to have safe water for consumption; this will lower the risk of having diseases therefore will lower the need to spend much on health care. Those programs should be for struggling families who are taking steps to better their futures, not for people who have no motivation and live off of the state systems and affordable health care programs. Sometimes it's hard because your conscience says you should help but you know that many people that do not deserve help will benefit and the taxpayer is the one who pays. Financially speaking, my company saw the real advantage to this switch and some of the employees. However, their money saving technique wasn't good news to employees because suddenly we were making up for their cost cutting endeavor – by seeing less money in our paychecks. Affordable health care is a long term issue that needs addressing in this country because it's those worst off who are affected.
